New Book Unveils Frameworks to Revolutionize Curriculum and Instructional Design
Mapping Constructively Aligned Curriculum and Instructional Design by Dr. James Lipuma and Dr. Cristo Leon, Now Available
Newark, NJ — In an era marked by educational transformation and systemic complexity, Mapping Constructively Aligned Curriculum and Instructional Design (Eliva Press, 2025) offers a groundbreaking contribution to the field of academic innovation. Co-authored by Dr. James Lipuma and Dr. Cristo Leon, this timely volume provides a comprehensive framework for aligning curriculum with instructional strategies in a way that is intentional, measurable, and inclusive.
Rooted in decades of experience across secondary, postsecondary, and graduate education, the book introduces two powerful analytic frameworks—GETS (Goals, Expectations, Target Learners, and Situation) and GOOPS (Goals, Objectives, Outcomes, Purpose, and Success)—to support educators, instructional designers, and academic leaders in designing responsive learning environments. These are complemented by actionable models such as TIPP (Teaching Inventory of Practice and Preferences), the GPS presentation model, and the Critical Learning Path (CLP), each designed to enhance instructional clarity and pedagogical alignment.
“Curriculum and instructional design must be understood not as static templates, but as dynamic processes of co-creation,” said co-author Dr. Cristo Leon, Director of Research at NJIT’s College of Science and Liberal Arts. “This book encourages reflective adaptation while embracing the collaborative potential of transdisciplinary communication.”
Drawing on real-world case studies, including insights from National Science Foundation-funded initiatives, Mapping Constructively Aligned Curriculum and Instructional Design situates itself as both a practical guide and a visionary call to action. It invites faculty, curriculum committees, accreditors, and educational policymakers to move beyond compliance-driven practices toward purpose-driven transformation.
